Everything we do as human beings is dependent on our brains perceiving, interpreting and organizing the sensory information that surrounds us. Like many human abilities, this sensory processing can be variable, and impact the ease and success of many of our daily activities.
Learning the basic tenets and strategies of sensory processing can help parents, teachers and caregivers provide understanding and support to people with sensory processing challenges. Modifying tasks and the environment can often make a huge difference in how we perceive our world!
In this talk, you will learn:
- About sensory processing and the 8 different sensory systems.
- How sensory processing contributes to function, skill and emotional regulation.
- Signs of sensory processing differences and difficulties.
- Strategies to address challenges with sensory processing, regulation and behavior that may be used at home, school or in the community.
- Takeaways for your parenting toolkit and further resources.
There will be plenty of time for Q&A with our presenters.
This event is free, but your donation to support UOD’s work is appreciated.
