Program Coordinator Position
Help build a more inclusive world, one program at a time.
Understanding Our Differences (UOD) is seeking a motivated, organized, and adaptable Program Coordinator to help deliver and grow our disability awareness and inclusion education programs.
Founded by parents and rooted in school communities, UOD helps children and communities understand disability as a natural part of human diversity and fosters school environments where all students feel respected, valued, and included.
This is an opportunity to join a small, highly collaborative team whose work makes a meaningful difference in the lives of students, educators, and communities. The role blends educational program coordination, digital learning support, community engagement, and social media communications.
We’re looking for someone who is comfortable using technology, curious about new tools, and enthusiastic about learning. You don’t need to know every platform already—we value initiative, flexibility, and a willingness to explore new approaches just as much as existing technical skills.
Position at a Glance
Hours: 20–25 hours per week
Compensation: Part-time, salaried position
Schedule: Follows the school-year calendar, with school holidays and July/August off
Work arrangement: Hybrid, combining remote work with in-person school and community visits
Additional availability: Occasional evening or weekend events, approximately quarterly
What You’ll Do
Program Coordination & Delivery
- Serve as a primary point of contact for school coordinators, educators, and community partners, coordinating program implementation across participating schools.
- Work closely with the Kit Coordinator to ensure timely distribution and delivery of curriculum materials.
- Help identify and screen potential program speakers and assist with in-school program presentations as needed.
- Coordinate program delivery across in-person, remote, and hybrid formats, keeping schedules, communications, and logistics on track.
Curriculum, Technology & Evaluation
- Maintain current, accessible curriculum materials in Canvas Learning Management System (LMS) and Google Workspace.
- Support program technology, including Zoom, presentation slides, captioning, and other digital tools.
- Help collect and organize feedback and survey data from students, school coordinators, teachers, and staff to assess program effectiveness and impact.
- Identify opportunities to improve digital resources, workflows, and the overall program experience.
Outreach, Communications & Growth
- Respond to incoming program inquiries and support leadership in preparing outreach proposals and follow-up communications.
- Help onboard new partner schools and equip school communities to implement programs with increasing independence.
- Create, schedule, and publish engaging content for Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube, highlighting program impact, community stories, and organizational milestones.
- Contribute to outreach and marketing initiatives that strengthen UOD’s visibility and build relationships with prospective schools, districts, and community partners.
- Represent UOD at occasional community events and organizational gatherings, including some evening or weekend events.
Who You Are
You are a thoughtful communicator, organized problem-solver, and curious learner who enjoys working with people, managing details, and finding practical ways to get things done. You are comfortable using everyday technology and open to learning new platforms, tools, and approaches. You don’t need to know everything on day one, but you’re willing to ask questions, experiment, troubleshoot, and build your skills along the way.
You bring:
- Mission alignment: A genuine commitment to disability inclusion, educational equity, and creating welcoming communities for people with different experiences and abilities.
- Communication: Strong writing, editing, interpersonal, and storytelling skills, with comfort speaking to groups as needed.
- Organization and initiative: Strong project coordination skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple responsibilities, and work independently.
- Adaptability: A flexible, resourceful approach to problem-solving and a willingness to explore new tools and improve existing workflows.
- Collaboration: A dependable, team-oriented working style and an appreciation for shared ideas, mutual support, and continuous improvement.
- Technology and a willingness to learn: Familiarity with everyday digital tools and an openness to learning new systems. Experience with Google Workspace, Zoom, social media platforms, or learning management systems is helpful, but we value curiosity, adaptability, and a willingness to learn over expertise in any particular platform.
A bachelor’s degree in education, communications, marketing, nonprofit management, or a related field is preferred. Experience in program coordination, education, communications, or digital marketing is a plus.
We welcome candidates whose experience and strengths come from a variety of professional, educational, and community settings.
